Dr. Darrell R. Over, MD is an Associate Professor and Associate Program Director for the UAMS (South Central) Family Medicine Residency.  He also serves as the Medical Director and Laboratory Director for the UAMS (South Central) Family Medicine Center.  He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio in 1996 and completed a family medicine residency at the UAMS Area Health Education Center (Pine Bluff) in 1999.  He is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.  Dr. Over joined the faculty of UAMS (South Central) in March, 2003.     His areas of interest include management of critical care patients  He also supervises the UAMS (South Central) resident scholarly activity

     Dr. Over retired from the U.S. Army National Guard in August, 2015 with the rank of Colonel after 34 years’ service.  He is the Chair of the Family Practice Section and Chair of the Medical Review Committee of Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, the affiliated teaching hospital for UAMS (South Central).    He is the senior District 4 Trustee of the Arkansas Medical Society (representing Ashley, Chicot, Desha, Drew, Jefferson, Lincoln counties).  

       Dr. Over serves on the editorial board of The Journal of the Arkansas Medical Society and is a peer reviewer for the Journal as well as The Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine.
